Oliver Properties makes renting and living well in Richmond, Virginia easy. Their motto is "renting made simple."
They needed a logo refresh to modernize their brand while maintaining their reputation for reliability and sophistication in the real estate market.
The old logo was outdated and lacked a distinct visual identity due to another similar company in the area using the exact stock icon that was a part of their logo wordmark, causing brand confusion and a legal issue.
The goal was to redesign the wordmark with refined typography and a unique icon that could be used across all their properties. The logo had to be bold and highly readable as it would printed on exterior signage outside their buildings and be used digitally.
The redesign focused on a streamlined approach using a mix of a classic, traditional serif and a modern, neutral sans serif typeface set in all caps, creating a strong visual impact. Thoughtful kerning (letter spacing) and the high color contrast provide balance and readability.
The old-style key icon is drawn in a modern, flat, minimalist style with distinctive shapes and clean lines that connect to the rectangle logo container. The key represents their rich history of real estate development, community security, and high-value properties. It has become a recognizable brand element strengthening their identity.
The updated logo also introduced a more sophisticated color palette of blues. The new and improved logo ensures seamless application across the website, signage and other marketing materials.
